At Lafrance Studio, we apply industrial-grade technical engineering to bespoke garment refinement. To ensure the highest quality results for your personal wardrobe, the following standards apply to all Private Client services.
Fitting Standards
Technical Fit & Consultations
- By Appointment Only: To maintain a focused technical environment, we do not accept walk-ins.
- Consultation Fee: A $25 initial “Technical Fit Analysis” fee is required for all new projects. This fee is credited toward your final service total upon booking.
- Fit Integrity: Alterations are executed based on the measurements and posture captured during the initial fitting. Any changes to the client’s physical measurements, or changes in footwear/undergarments after the initial fitting, may incur additional re-fitting fees.
Garment Integrity
- Garment Condition: All garments must be clean and free of stains, odors, or pet hair before being brought in for alterations.
- Fittings: A fitting is required for all alteration projects to ensure accurate pinning and marking.
- Quotes: A final price will be provided after the initial fitting and assessment of the work required.
- Timeline: Alteration timelines will be communicated to the client at the time of the quote and may vary based on the complexity of the job.
- Shoes & Undergarments: For any pants, dresses, or full-length garments, you must bring the specific shoes and undergarments you plan to wear with the final garment to all fittings. The length and fit of a garment can change significantly based on shoe height and undergarment support, and accurate fittings cannot be conducted without them.
- Latex, Silicone, and Specialty Garments: We do not perform alterations on items made of latex, silicone, or other specialty materials that require unique tools or processes that are not standard for textile manufacturing.
Studio Safety & Health
Garment Hygiene: For the protection of our staff and high-precision industrial machinery, all garments must be professionally laundered or dry-cleaned prior to your appointment. We reserve the right to decline services for soiled or odorous items.
Price Breakdown Guide
All prices are subject to change based on the specific garment, material, and complexity of the alteration.
Disclaimer
Quality of Garments for Alterations
We reserve the right to decline any alteration project based on the garment’s quality, material, or construction. Our professional opinion is final. Garments, particularly those from fast-fashion retailers, are often made with low-quality materials and poor construction methods, which can make them unsuitable for professional alterations. Attempting to alter such garments may compromise their integrity, durability, and overall appearance. We will not be held responsible for the outcome of alterations on garments that are deemed to be of inadequate quality or construction.
Fittings and Appointments
- Punctuality: Please arrive on time for your scheduled fitting. If you are more than 15 minutes late without prior notice, we may need to reschedule your appointment, and a $50 cancellation fee may apply.
- Client-Provided Components: While we provide industrial-grade threads and standard notions, Lafrance Studio is not responsible for the performance or durability of client-provided specialty zippers, buttons, or fabrics.
- Final Inspection: Clients are encouraged to try on their altered garments at the time of pick-up to ensure complete satisfaction. Any necessary adjustments to the work performed must be brought to our attention at this time.
- Post-Pickup Adjustments: We guarantee our work for a period of 7 days after the pick-up date. Please inspect your garment thoroughly during your final fitting. Any adjustments requested after this period will be treated as a new alteration and will be subject to new charges.
Payment and Liability
- Payment Policy: A deposit of $25 of the estimated cost is required at the time of the initial fitting to begin any work. The final balance is due in full upon completion and before the garment can be released.
- Larger Project: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required for all reconstruction projects exceeding $200. Balances must be settled in full at the time of pick-up. Garments will not be released until the account is paid.
- Uncollected Items: Completed garments must be picked up within 14 calendar days of final notification. Items left beyond 30 days are subject to a $5/day storage fee. Items left beyond 60 days are considered abandoned and will be disposed of or donated to recover labor costs.
- Limitation of Liability: While we take the utmost care with your property, our liability for any garment is limited to the cost of the alteration service itself. We are not responsible for the replacement value of the garment in the rare event of an issue, and we are not liable for damages resulting from a garment’s original poor construction.
Bespoke Design & Custom Manufacture Terms
Lafrance Studio provides high-end, custom garment construction. By commissioning a bespoke project, you agree to the following professional standards.
The Design & Development Phase
- Consultation & Quote: A project is officially initiated once the design concept is finalized and a formal quote is issued.
- Design Freeze: Once the deposit is paid and materials are sourced, the design is “frozen.” Significant changes to the silhouette, fabric selection, or technical details after this point will result in additional design fees and timeline extensions.
The Fitting & Technical Standard
- Prototype (Toile/Muslin): Depending on complexity, a prototype fitting may be required. This is for fit and proportion only; the finish and fabric of the prototype do not reflect the final garment.
- Mandatory Undergarments: You must wear the intended shoes and undergarments to all fittings. Failure to do so will void our fit guarantee for that session.
- Punctuality: Fittings are technical appointments. Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may require rescheduling and a $50 late fee.
Payment & Ownership
- Deposit: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin pattern making and material procurement.
- Collaborative Design: We value your style direction and inspiration. While the aesthetic concept is a collaboration, the Technical Intellectual Property [including all physical and digital patterns, grading logic, and proprietary construction methods] remains the exclusive property of LS Custom Manufacture LLC (Lafrance Studio).
- Usage Rights: The client is granted a perpetual license to wear and display the garment. However, the design may not be used for commercial reproduction or mass manufacture without a separate licensing agreement from LS Custom Manufacture LLC (Lafrance Studio).
Quality & Final Acceptance
- Final Inspection: You are required to perform a final inspection at the time of pick-up. Your signature or final payment constitutes “Client Acceptance” of the garment’s fit and quality.
- Post-Delivery: Due to the custom nature of bespoke work, all sales are final. We offer a 7-day window for minor technical adjustments (seam tension, loose buttons). Adjustments requested after 7 days or due to weight fluctuation are subject to additional labor costs.
Limitation of Liability
Lafrance Studio is committed to industrial excellence. Our liability is limited to the total cost of the commission. We are not liable for delays caused by third-party textile suppliers or shipping carriers. Garments not collected within 30 days of completion will be considered abandoned.
As a Florida Certified Business Enterprise (CBE), Lafrance Studio adheres to strict industrial quality standards in every stitch.
